Statement of Purpose

The purpose of the nursing program is to provide health education programs for emerging and practicing healthcare providers, accomplished through the values of integrity, quality, leadership, affordability and innovation.

Learning Outcomes

Collaborates with healthcare team members to provide safe, competent care to meet the patient’s biopsychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs in a variety of healthcare settings.
Utilizes technology and a spirit of inquiry to examine resources to develop nursing judgment and guide evidence-based practice.
Manages patient-centered nursing care and promotes the health of patients within the family and community context.
Demonstrates professional behavior and integrity within an ethical and legal framework.
Demonstrates knowledge, skills and attitudes as a nurse generalist with the ability to assess and prioritize patient needs and services.
Utilizes quality improvement to continually enhance patient care and promote positive patient outcomes.

Year End 2018 = 92.18% (compared to national rate of 88.3%)

Year End 2019 = 93.09% (compared to national rate of 88.18%)

Year End 2020 = 92.27% (compared to national rate of 86.58%)

Year End 2021 = 85.56% (compared to national rate of 82.48%)

Year End 2022 = 84.15 % (compared to national rate of 79.91%)

Employment

2019-2020 Academic Year: 83.5% of respondents indicated they had an RN position in healthcare within 12 months of graduation.

Associate Degree in Nursing Program Accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. The 2020 survey resulted in continuing accreditation.

The Central Ohio Technical College Nursing Program is fully compliant with the Ohio Board of Nursing regulations and Ohio Revised Code requirements for nursing educational programs content. Students completing a nursing education program at Central Ohio Technical College are eligible to sit for the NCLEX exam for Ohio licensure.
